Ich bin allgemein sehr zufrieden mit der Qualität und der Lichtstärke wenn man bedenkt dass das Objektiv nicht aus der Kamera herausschaut und andere Wasserdichte Kameras in der Preiskategorie meist nicht so gut abschneiden.. Soweit war sie auch Wasserdicht beim Baden und Schnorcheln wobei ich sie nicht bis ans limit getestet habe.

Pluspunkt sind die Voreinstellungen. Es sind nicht so viele Manuelle einstellungen möglich aber dafür sind die Voreinstellungen wirklich gut und übersichtlich. In der Praxis bewährt sich das dadurch dass ich die richtigen Einstellungen für ein Foto mit wenigen klicks habe. Im Vergleich zu meiner geliebten f200exr die ich leider verloren habe haben sich gute Voreinstellungen auf Reisen besser bewährt.

Praktisch
Improvisiertes HDR: Die Kamera macht nacheinander 2 Fotos und fügt sie zusammen.
Twilight handheld: Die kameras macht schnell 6 fotos ohne blitz bei wenig licht und fügt sie zusammen. Gibt erstaunlich gute Ergebnisse

Review for Sony DSC-TX5 while traveling
May be handy for anybody intending to buy a waterproof camera. As another review told me (i based my decision to buy the TX5 on that) the image quality is pretty good for being that small. Also low light performance is not too bad. The camera actually is waterproof but I have not tested it to the limits. My unterwatershots were mainly taken just below the surface and I did not keep it unter water for a long time.
Handling with the touchscreen is fine. There are not to many options for manual settings but a good selection of presets which can be set quite fast. As I remember from my last trip using the F200EXR (Unfortunately, I lost that camera), I rarely used the manual settings because it needs to much time to find the right one and my trip should not only consist of making photos. Therefore, I prefer to have some good slightly adabtable presets. Favourite presets include the HDR settings: The camera takes up to 2 shots within short time and combines the pictures to one kind of HDR photo. It is not the same as real HDR but pretty good. The twilight handheld setting is for lowlight combines 6 shots and does noise reduction after all. The results are quite good too.

Compact vs SLR
I would never carry a SLR around the way I do it with my TX5. The TX5 fits in a small pocket because it is slim. I am not afraid that it may break when using it at the beach or in dusty environment.
Now you could say "But SLR still have better quality!"
Well that's true but during safari, there were plenty of people in our group with SLR cameras and megazoom. At the end, we saw most of the animals with our own eyes and not through a screen of a photocamera still we could copy the best shots of the other people
